Jackpot Records In-store, Portland, OR

thanks to Daphne:

sorry this has taken so long! i had the pleasure of hearing sam coomes as blues goblins at a jackpot records in-store free concert last weekend with tiah, mike mccusker, kara lee, erika and mel from sweetaddy. the concert rocked! it was my first time seeing him in person, and i was lucky to also see his new baby girl and wife there as well. mel has posted some pics at sweetaddy in the portland mini-meet up thread blamonet.com and others have posted about this concert there also.

i was lucky enough to have an opportunity to sit and chat with him for awhile afterwards. he was not very aware of this new quasi site, but said that he used to visit the old one. he says he's been having problems with a slow connection, and hasn't been on his computer as much as he used to be. he was nice enough to sign several things for me, including a blues globlins poster, cd, the set list, and a postcard for the quasi site. the original song list (as he has it written) was:

good business
i ask for water
seven years gone
last kind words
hellhound on my trail
no no no (he didn't sing this one)
life's a gas
donut town blues (i don't think this one is on the cd, unless it also goes by another name)
born to die
rollin and tumblin

the postcard for the quasi board has the blues goblins ape(?) on the front, and promotes the cd on the back. (sorry, i don't have a scanner )

he wrote:

Hello, Thanks--

good luck : good times

:ANTI-WAR: (underlined twice)

Sam

anyway, it was really great to meet him. he is very kind, very soft spoken, and says that he LOVES meeting and talking with people at his shows.
